Parish Outreach

A Meal & More Soup Kitchen

A Meal & More provides nutritious mid-day meals and caring friendship to needy children and people in a safe environment every Wednesday and Sunday at Christ Church.

RAIHN

Christ Church members volunteer at a family shelter set-up at St. Luke and St. Simon's Church downtown, 4 weeks every year. Volunteers cook meals, help kids with homework and in some instances stay overnight. RAIHN (Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network.)

Adopt-a-Classroom

We volunteer with St. Paul's Church at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School 9. Volunteer opportunities: tutor weekly, pack bags of books, collect box tops and labels, volunteer in the library, help-out during special events, wrap gifts for Christmas.

Special Events

During each winter, Christ Church supports men, women and children in need with a mitten, glove and coat collection drive...plus a Christmas toy drive benefitting the "Battered Woman's Shelter."

Refugee Resettlement

Christ Church hosts refugees from Liberia and Sudan. We also support "Saint's Place," a refugee resettlement, non-profit, by donating needed supplies (clothing, household items, furniture.)

Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) Carpenter's Kids

Christ Church has a long-standing Lenton Program helping to raise funds supporting ERD's mission of "Healing a Hurting World." Our specific outreach involvement is "Carpenter's Kids" providing children in Africa supplies for school. This is a global connection with our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School 9 outreach.

Advocacy

Christ Church members are concerned about larger issues concerning social justice and structures that aid or prevent peace and justice. Our Advocancy Outreach is a gathering of those interested in learning more about an issue and then advocating for true justice through letter writing campaigns.
